My family loves mountain biking here. These are fun, technical trails. Miles of trails.

If you are looking for easier trails to mtb on, go to Shawnee Bend just to the west of the dam. There are some great views of Truman Lake, old house ruins and old cars off in the woods.

I like hiking on these trails, they offer a selection of different routes to take based off of distance. Trails are clearly visible to navigate. Bring bug repellent and check for ticks. I don't believe pesticides are used Trailside. But there's definitely nature there.

If I had to say a few things as constructive criticism, it would be nice if there was a modern restroom with running water.

Funding I bet.

Anyway, it's a nice outlet to go to and enjoy.

The rocks could be cleaned up a bit and I would love to see the lake more. I'm sure when they started letting bikes on the walking trails it made many more loose rocks 😟

The trail system is decent but the paths are not well maintained, if ever. There are large baseball and softball sized rocks all over the trails that will trip a hiker or catch a bike tire. I come here to go hiking and jogging and almost every time I end up rolling an ankle on the rocks. Some of the sections and side trails are just rock filled ruts with no dirt at all, like a dry creekbed. Other spots are very uneven and washed away with boulders jutting out of the ground. It's a shame because this place would be amazing if they would just do some regular maintenance. Also, as some other people have mentioned even though this location is so close to the lake most of the trails don't run close to it with few views of the water.

Rode here in late April and found this to be an interesting trail system. There had been quite a bit of rain in April, so there were some soggy/muddy sections. Lots of small rocks, a theme I'd experience over the next several months on the road. Woods, elevation change, high sections, low wet sections, fast blistering sections followed by grunting short climbs, it has it all. You can string together several trails to make quite a long ride. I enjoyed my ride and recommend the Truman Lake Mountain Bike Park.

Nice mountain bike trails. Well marked trails. The yellow trail has about 1000' of elevation gain. Had a good work out. Trails dry quick, unlike the ones in Kansas City.
