My suggestion from experience. (Estate/Contract Breach)

Small claims <$10K. If I were you, don't get to excited about the legal help from here. Wonderful to talk too, and adequate help but certainly not extensive, not worth the price nor detailed. You'll be doing most of the work you paid for. But it is small claims, so a lawyer isn't too concerned about putting up a fight for low return claims. After my experience, my advice to you is, if you're content with taking what you can get, even for a small loss with little to know guidance, then this office will get it. Claims >$20K. Don't expect much of a fight unless you're positive about going to trial. It'll likely result in arbitration for a lesser before that. Trial is the money maker for them and you...IF you win. I did not exactly appreciate my councels ability to be prepared and fight... or lack thereof, regardless of claim amount. (Orginally $35K, settled for MUCH less).

Abilene is small. Wealthy people are well connected here. So if you're going up against a wealthy well known person you're up for a fight on your own. I went through it so please take heed to this warning and be prepared to put in the work. Arbitrators are suppose to be unbiased but I guarantee you you're making a huge mistake if you think there in it for equal interest. I chose to bow out because it wasn't worth the headache anymore even though I let my principles down. The jerk (whom I sued) got off easy and is doing bad business to others. Either way the choice is yours. Just my opinion.
