Two weeks ago I was referred to the Harding firm by a high school friend from Altadena, CA when we met up for lunch in Chandler to catch up and mourn the losses of our city. Today I had a phone consultation with Mrs. Harding and all I can say is not all black women support black women. I discussed my current parenting time and communication challenges with the father of my twins. I mentioned I had already completed the modification paperwork but wanted to seek legal representation and/or have her look over my paperwork. While on the phone with Mrs. Harding I felt like was on trail. She was dismissive and made assumptions about my feelings towards my twins father. She made statements like I wouldn’t “win” in court because I have limited communication with my twins father. Even after explaining to her that I have endured verbal and emotional abuse by him. While also sharing that he recently called the police on me for picking up my twins during my scheduled parenting time. I was in complete shock after she asked if I had any other questions and I said no I think that was it expecting to her to discuss what the next steps were but Mrs. Harding said “I wish you the best of luck” and hung up the phone. Never have I experienced this and I hope no one else has to. I reached out to my friend immediately and she was even in complete shock. She even said if I knew she was going to do that I would’ve never referred you.
