Having Kelly as a doula was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When people ask how I gave birth unmedicated, my response is “I had a really great doula.” She was absolutely phenomenal and was instrumental in making sure I had the birth I wanted. Knowing she was there to facilitate my birth goals calmed down so much of my anxiety around labor. When my water broke, she talked me through how to decide when to go to the hospital. At the hospital, the hospital staff got excited when they found out who my doula was; she has a reputation for being awesome. In the delivery room, she advocated for me to have intermittent monitoring and for the water tub to be set up optimally. She helped position me to get me to progress (with success) and gave my husband helpful instructions on how to support my labor. He was originally on the fence about hiring a doula, but is now a firm supporter. He feels having Kelly was a game changer not just for me, but for his experience as well. She helped him know what to do when he would have otherwise been overwhelmed and uncertain.
We also used Kelly for placenta encapsulation. At first, I was skeptical of placenta encapsulation but I am so glad I had Kelly do it. I was amazed how much the capsules helped me emotionally postpartum. Kelly’s photographs were also awesome. I didn’t realize how much I would appreciate having labor documented. My only regret about my experience was that we forgot to get a picture with Kelly!

I have had the blessing of having Kelly by my side when delivering both of my baby boys at home. Kelly is phenomenal. She is a perfect combination of everything you need- the “you can do it” motivation of a coach, the knowledge and ability to help you at your most vulnerable of a nurse, the by your side energy of your best friend and the nurturing and comfort of your mom. She knows what I need before I do and it feels like she can read my mind and feel what I am feeling. After my first experience with her I spent a lot of time praying that everything would work out for her to be there for my second. I don’t know how other women give birth without a doula, specifically without Kelly. She has a God-given gift for helping women have their babies.

I can't say enough amazing things about Danielle. She was exactly what I needed going through the final trimester of pregnancy and especially when it came to the final weeks , she was an encouraging confidante for me. When I found out I would be getting induced , she guided me through grieving the birth I had imagined but encouraged me that it would still be an amazing experience. She gave me all the advice on how to best finish my pregnancy in those final weeks. Through my 37 hour induction she was just a phone call away and helped me make the most informed decisions . It was tough but she reminded me of my strength and gave me the big sis kinda encouragement I needed. As an athlete myself, when it came time to push she gave me the exact style of coaching that I needed as if she was coaching me through one more rep in the gym. Danielle helped me find strength & confidence I didn't know I had and guided me and my husband through meeting our beautiful baby girl. My birth experience was beautiful, pleasant and empowering. We're honored to have Danielle by our side through it all.

My husband and I have only positive things to say about our experience working with Danielle throughout the end of pregnancy and the birth of our daughter. Danielle was extremely reliable, available, and understanding of our needs and feelings at all times. She provided support in the weeks leading up to pregnancy that was above and beyond. Danielle is compassionate, calm and collected, and very knowledgeable. I felt we were in good hands from day one. In addition to pregnancy support, Danielle was amazing the day of our labor and delivery. She was there every step of the way and helped us navigate all the decisions we had to make. We are so grateful for all of the positioning work she did on me throughout labor to make sure our baby girl was in the most optimal position to be delivered vaginally. On top of everything, Danielle was key when I was pushing - when things weren't moving along that well and I was having trouble, she was always thinking of new positions and it was her idea at the end that got me into the ideal position that ended up in the safe and healthy birth of our child. We will forever be grateful to Danielle and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a birth/labor doula.

My husband and I had the most amazing birth experience with the support of Kelly Sunshine. We are beyond blessed we had Kelly as our doula. From the initial consultation, we knew Kelly was the right fit for us with her calm demeanor and excitement towards a supportive birth. Kelly has not disappointed, she was always available to answer questions throughout pregnancy. We met with her at our home around 36 weeks, at a time I was feeling anxious about birth, the conversation and plan she discussed made me feel empowered and excited about labor and delivery. She  supported our wishes for an unmedicated birth and helped us envision how we saw the day going. Come due date, Kelly was with us ever step of the way. She calmed me when I was anxious with contractions early in the morning. She spoke to my husband when I was focusing through labor at home. She followed us to the hospital when ready. I was extremely focused through active labor but had a few moments to thank Kelly for being there for us because I knew I would not be in such a calm state without her presence. She truly was a gift from God for us. She encouraged me through the whole birth and made me feel so empowered. (Apparently I was her 1200th birth!) this speaks to the wealth of knowledge she has. Additionally, She took some gorgeous photos of our birthing experience and also wrote a whole timeline of our day- which truly is special to have. Our birth experience would not have gone so smoothly and been so memorable without Kelly. Even after birth she has checked in to support the difficulties of postpartum- helping me find lactation support, chiropractic care, and just someone to talk to about how I'm feeling with my ever changing hormones. I will hire Kelly again and again and again! I highly recommend sunshine doula services!!
