Before my sister passed away from cancer, I went to live with her for two months. She had prepared her will many years before, but the attorney she worked with had aged and was no longer practicing. I knew I would need to find another lawyer, but I felt unable to do so until my husband arrived after my sister’s passing. The first attorney I called was Rebecca Whittington; I was so happy that she suggested an interview so she could go over all the details with me and my husband. Her willingness to meet with us and explain how she could help gave me great relief.

When I learned that Rebecca would do much of the necessary work by email, that reinforced for me the ideal situation of being able to return to our home in North Platte, NE, and still carry on the details of my sister’s estate. I did not think I could do the work of Executor, but Rebecca convinced me that with her help I would be able to do so. That proved to be possible with Rebecca’s secretary frequently corresponding with me, and with my husband’s help in interpreting some of the legal language. Rebecca helped me understand which of my deceased sister’s assets were mine and which should be shared with my remaining sister. She told me that my sister’s remaining bills needed to be paid with checks from the estate account. She explained the procedure of selling my deceased sister’s stock and placing the resulting funds in the estate account. She also explained that our six children who were designated as heirs to farm land in North Dakota would need to be recognized by another attorney in North Dakota, and she also helped us with that.

Rebecca introduced me to a realtor who would help me sell my sister’s home. Always she conveyed a sense of compassion and understanding and never pushed me to complete tasks more quickly. When I didn’t understand something, she willingly explained the details. She worked in liaison with the CPA my husband and I employ for our tax reporting so the estate taxes could be reported. She communicated with my remaining sister about the estate proceedings, and she also communicated with our six children who were heirs. When the hospital that treated my deceased sister had questions about billing, she worked with them. She reported to the judge about the progress the estate was making, and her secretary provided the Final Report and Accounting to present to the heirs and the judge for approval. Her knowledge and perseverance made the work on the estate possible and successful.

Several people in Carbondale IL, my banker, realtor, and several friends recommended Rebecca Whittington Attorney at Law, to handle my Aunt's estate. It was June of 2020 and I was serving as Executor, Ms. Whittington agreed to represent the estate in probate and I would do as much of the leg work as possible to help keep the expenses down. Near the peak of paranoia for the pandemic, to say there were obstacles would be the understatement of the century, literally. I can't imagine what would have happened with any other firm. I can't give a 10 star rating but if I could I would. This lady is a con artist! She claims to be religious, yet she lies constantly. She is a total fruad and should be in jail. Do not believe a word she says. She will lie and drag it out as long as she can to take every dollar you have. She should not be allowed to practice law.
