These public defenders lie to you about the charges they have been offered by the state. I was told over a family dispute for pushing someone out the door and locking it , that it was considered a assault the public defender I had told me when I went to court that it was considered a soft assault by the D.A because there were no bruising on either party and I can get it dropped to a lesser charge and have it removed from the record later . I called an attorney 7 years later and they told me that's not possible for something like that if they sent you to prison even for a day they did so to Mac out federal credits for the state to get paid . I can not even get a job with uber now .

This is the worst office I have ever delt with. They don't do no investigation unless it's a homicide. The Attorney try to get you to take a deal. I have video camera evidence that the police was lying and they still told me I was lying this is the private defenders program attorney Jeff Hayden . It's been almost 2 years and I haven't had nothing happened with my case it hasn't moved I haven't even had the proper attorney to represent me I'll call their office every day I've been calling their office everyday since November of 2022 to avail no attorney

Great team I was nervous at first because I felt like if they were not too much of help on my case, but when the court began my assigned public defender had a good proposition with reasonable solutions for the problem I was in and now I can focus on my life as I was prior to this incident . Text message from attorney, 1 hour before my preliminary trial saying "I'm in Seattle and won't be able to make it". I missed work to feed my family so I could go to settle this misdemeanor resisting arrest.
1 year and 3 months later it's still being continued.

If only they texted me the day prior it would have been sufficient. I have missed 1 week of work by now, and haven't even been heard.

I told the attorney that and she flipped out and told the judge i was threatening and harassing her. Now the judge has a pre disposition towards me. I'm scared that this will be used against me by the judge.

As many know, San Mateo is a place with a 98.7% conviction rate. If you get a charge in this county you will be taking an L. The Private Defender program is supported by the county and I do not feel like you get a fair deal from any of their lawyers. In pre-court meetings your fate is decided before you ever get to present a case.

Do your own research, have bail money, and speak up for yourself. San Mateo is one of the preeminent places for "justice" in Northern California.

Do your best to stand out from the crowd that these people are leading to the slaughter. Otherwise you will find yourself with something I. Your jacket that you did not necessarily do, according to the terms of Law.

Don't just law down and take something because these people aren't used to accepting loses.

The arrest in my own home without warrant and malicious prosecution filed in retaliation for civil suit and complaints.
The commissioner acted as judge without consent and assigned the private defender despite my refusal.
I was not allowed to speak and the guys spoke as if I submitted to them and tried to get me one year plea deal but told me 60 days. I refused any deal and posted bail when I was allowed to make calls.
The lawyer did not even read the report and show no interest to defend. Court records were altered and falsified. When I insisted to let the jurors decide, the case is suspended as if "Incompetent to stand trial".
The charges were not related to the prosecution as domestic violent but said I am charged with domestic violent. The program is not to help the public but for themselves to screw people. How many people in jail with bogus charges is scary to think.
The private prosecutor not defender. The more people in jail the more money they make and the private defenders are the lazy lawyers just to offer plea deal for everyone.
Don't even let them speak for you. This is a criminal operation by the San Mateo County.
