"Rarely do you come across legal representation that truly has their client's; and all whom they represent, best interest at heart. Our issues are so prevalent in communities across the state/country with very few homeowners coming out with justice and appropriate representation. Because of you, we've accomplished both." This is an exert from an email that I sent to Chris Opfer just a few short weeks ago after he and his firm spent nearly a year helping our community through a very difficult situation with our HOA board and all who supported their actions.

While it's hard to tell how our downward spiral began, at our very darkest hour, homeowners are faced with tens of thousands of dollars in special assessments, doubled monthly HOA dues and home values are plummeting. For months we were given inaccurate information, when given information at all, and as things continued to get worse within the community, we heard less and less from those who were elected to represent us.

Chris often times worked late into the evening and over weekends, putting in way more hours than one should expect, to make sure he was giving us accurate and sound advice. At times he put his own personal life and family on hold to answer a call, email or pop into a homeowner meeting. He deciphered our confusing and often conflicting bylaws to allow homeowners to use our governing documents and state laws in their favor and dispelled scare tactics from the board and legal representation. He showed us where law "trumped" our bylaws and as such allowed our homeowners to feel confident pushing back. He often brought in other experts within the industry when he himself wasn't sure about something that we brought to the table. Chris is humble, knows the law, is not afraid to challenge the opposition and is quick to bring in expert advice in areas that aren't quite as cut and dry and above all is the calming voice in the midst of chaos and conflict.

Don't get me wrong, this was not an easy path and often times we would feel defeated and as homeowners were ready to give in and give up, but then another homeowner would find strength to hold up the others and soon we became an army of over 150 strong discovering expertise among ourselves. Chris and his team cared about us. We never believed we were the next paycheck for this firm. Chris showed us that we had a voice, we were right in our concerns, and we had the law behind us.

While, as a community, we are far from out of the woods, we have a new transparent board who is working hard to salvage our community, our home values, and our fundamental right to come home and live in a peaceful community free from stress and unnecessary hardship. This board is not taking "this is how its done" from anyone. Chris Opfer and his entire firm helped us get here and gave us this unwavering strength to challenge the status quo.

Onward and upward, as we have quite a challenge ahead of us but we have a strong community backing us. Thank you Chris and your entire team for bringing peace back to our homes.
