After renovations finished back in February, the library has become a convenience for me when biking around downtown to stop, use the bathroom, refill my water, etc all for free. Also a lot of selections for books and 3 floors of the library to explore. Great for all ages

To the couple of people gave the library a bad review:
The library is closed, but the staff is not just sitting around on their butts. Perhaps you don't know that you can order books online and they will process the request. They are also organizing their new office spaces and directing the reshelving of books.

To the person who can't get there during work hours - they are open until 8pm on Wed and Thur.

They are great folks

I live out of town and did some remote office work at this library over the course of two weeks. It wasn't easy to find a quiet place to work. At the bank of laptop stations, that is you bring your own laptop and they have a desktop and an outlet for plugging in/recharging, people would play loud music even with headphones, and have loud conversations, or sleep and snore loudly. So, it was loud, not quiet as one would expect a library to be. Often, I had to move and sit elsewhere. Why I am giving this library four stars is because of Mike, the Reference Librarian. He is awesome. He helped me with a laptop hardware issue I was having, on my own laptop. He could've just said sorry. I would overhear him helping other people, always being polite and considerate. As long as he is here, it will be a great place!

The New Milford Library offers excellent programming. Their staff and volunteers are dedicated to providing the best that the area has to offer, often to sold out crowds. A true gem and we are so glad they are close by for our students. We love all that downtown New Milford has to offer!

I walk in *inhales* wow I think to myself as I examine the colossal book selection this place smells like home. The historic background and the modern book selection makes it feel like home. I also I REALLY love the bathrooms too just a place that I can feel like I can really sink in and curl up with a great authentic Japanese manga no place can top it 5 stars.

The New Milford Public Library aka The Egbert Marsh Memorial Library was built for the "purposes that shall improve the mind, intellectual and social status of the people". It is situated on a parcel of land donated by Egbert Marsh in memory of the soldiers and sailors of New Milford. Construction began in 1896. Designed by J.W. Northrup in the English Gothic style. The library opened its doors to the public in 1898.
As the town grew so did the library. Expanding in 1979 the first New Milford Hospital located on Whittlesey Ave was demolished. The expansion did include the annexation and preservation of the William J. Starr House
