I have been in the process of selling my mother’s home. She passed away, so I’ve been in charge of handling her affairs. Between the agent (I’ll review her business separately) I picked and the girl at the title company (rhymes with candy), it has been an absolute nightmare.

Miscommunication, real estate agent not working in favor of the client, and the girl at the title company being so incredibly rude and refusing to put me through to her supervisor. She refused to speak to my husband and answer the questions he had regarding the discrepancy of numbers on the contract. Yet, she previously spoke to him, and him alone, during this process which is questionable to me because I am the only person authorized by the court to handle my mother’s property. The agent not the girl at title ever asked me permission to speak to him. Obviously I would have given permission, but find it to be a strange business practice of not speaking directly to the only person whose name is on the contract.

This girl also stated that the wiring of the money to the bank to pay the mortgage would not be completed until Monday, even though the papers were signed on a Thursday, because wires don’t work on Friday. Not sure what that’s about and since the supervisor (boss?) won’t return a phone call, I have no answers.

My husband called the Yreka office on 09/13 and left a message for the supervisor or boss to call him regarding the issue of his worker’s behavioral issue and he has yet to receive a call back. I am selling my home and will not only be obtaining a new agent, but I am also going to see if I can put it in the contract that this title company will not be used and see what other options are available.

I would never use this title company again, if they get busy you become a number. I was refinancing my house to consolidate debt. I gave one of the title officers (Erin) a very important quit claim deed a week or more prior to signing and the title officer looked it over and stuck it in the file. I reminded her it was important. They never called me, they mailed out a form for me to fill out. A week later it was wrong they said, so they mailed out another. Finally my loan was approved and I go to sign papers and the quit claim deed I had brought in wasn't enough? They waited until the 11th hour to let me know this. My ex wouldn't sign, I had no time to prepare her for this and the loan was lost. My refinance from 6% to 2.75% was lost due to Erin and Randi being so overwhelmed with other escrows I had become a nobody. This was the worse thing financially that has ever happened to me in my life, as this was going to be a game changer. All because their attorney's and escrow officers decided they needed a inter spousal agreement on top of the quit claim deed that was 100% legit? 3 times I was promised a call back to questions, Randi never called me like promised. I didn't even have an officer assigned to my file until the very end, my advice would be even though it's a refi don't let them treat like a second rate escrow. They charge top fees for everything as you will find out. I should of known better to allow this out of area loan company to use 1st American Title's - Mt Shasta Title. For now on I suggest Siskiyou Title is where I will send my business and I can try for another refi after the dust settles. Funny the lender Matt Harris from Movement Mortgage said I should of lied and told them I was single since the marriage was done in Chile. All I know is Mt Shasta Title really dropped the ball giving me no notice and I had prepped them before hand. I learned my lesson with this company, don't be a number when they get busy. In business, you are either getting better or getting worse..... Out of area lenders, get a commitment before you commit, they are driving faster than their windshields. I sold Real Estate before my current occupation, take it from someone who was in the industry.

These people are just terrific! They always take the time to translate documents written in real estate language (which seems to be a mix of greek and old english. They worked super hard to get our escrow properly set up and even helped correct some lender errors. Lovely, lovely, hardworking group! I would highly recommend them to anyone. 💛💛💛
