Kathy was wonderful she even came to my home and explained in detail what I needed. She spent 2 hours on how to proceed with my documents, prepared them sent them and then scheduled an appointment for me to sign them. Her pricing was excellent giving me option to pay in payments if I couldn’t pay in full I don’t think that there are any lawyers that would do that. I even recommended her to my friends. So don’t believe the person who complained check Kathy McNeely-Johnson Legal Serenity P.C. For yourself.

When I first contacted Kathy, I was a first time home buyer on a budget. I was very glad to be able to find someone who worked on a flat rate, and with such a warm personality to boot. Not only was Kathy welcoming, she took the time to make sure we understood everything that was going into the contract.
When I found out the realtor that was showing us homes didn't consider herself to be working for us, Kathy and the gentleman from the bank stepped up and made sure our closing date was set, and did a lot of behind the scenes work to make sure everything went through smoothly. I was relieved to have someone in my corner who knew what needed to be done, and got it sorted out.
And, even after the closing, I asked her a favor to print out some papers in legal size to get one of the utilities set up properly, and she was willing to help me out with that as well without any extra charge.
Her knowledge and hard work made it possible for us to live in our own home, and I'll always be grateful for how much work she put into making that dream come true.

When my daughter bought her home she told me how happy she was with Kathy. She told me about how hard Kathy hard worked for her, that she was detail oriented, and what a wonderful experience she'd had.
When we bought our home in Rockford in 2019, and sold our home in Belvidere in 2020 Kathy coordinated with our realtor they made the process go smoothly at each closing.
In our conversations with Kathy we mentioned due to covid we should have our wills updated, Kathy let us know that she provides that service. The number of detailed questions Kathy asked helped to give us peace of mind that our adult children will have an easy to follow guide when the time comes.
My mother died in Jan. 2021 thankfully she had a will, but this left the emotional care of my stepfather to me. Since my stepfathers will needed to be updated, I asked Kathy to help. Kathy took extra time with my stepfather, Kathy was kind and gentle with him working around his hearing loss and grief do to the loss of my mother. Kathy made sure my stepfather heard and understood all of he questions, she gave him ample time to relay the answers. I am grateful this was taken care of in a timely manner, as my stepfather died Dec.2021. Kathy filed all of the legal documents after his passing, and reminded me of some of the details of settling an estate.
After my stepfather's passing I was able to sell my mother's condo, I received an offer and called Kathy, the buyer was difficult and gave us the run around. Kathy had provided multiple contracts the buyer kept changing the details needless to say the deal fell through. Not long after I had another offer, this time the buyer didn't want to use realtors so Kathy was pulling double duty. Despite some small bumps in the road Kathy and the buyers Lawyer got us through closing.
I will say that I have faith in Kathy's professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication. Kathy's warmth, compassion, and sense of humor make her a joy to work with. After working together so many times I have come to think of Kathy as a friend, but as my Lawyer I know I can count on Kathy to provide top quality legal services at reasonable prices.

One month ago I hired Kathy McNeely-Johnson to oversee A-Z my home sale "By Owner" for flat fee of $600.00. Within days following, she informs me in writing her hourly rate is $425.00/hour totaling near $5,000.00 in billable charges! She was short-tempered, intimidating, manipulative and deceitful toward me and made demeaning remarks about my prospective home buyer. She did nothing of value toward the reason for hire while chalking up extraneous charges. I then fired her before she ruined my entire home sale transaction. Instead of going away peacefully her hostility continues now demanding $900.00 though never fulfilling why hired and now I must hire and pay a new attorney.

She is incredibly helpful, knowledgable and empathetic. We called and she helped us a lot with determining whether a small estate affidavit or probate was appropriate. Will be returning for follow up services, 100%.
