Lawyers have a reputation. A bad one. A quick google search of “lawyer jokes” will inundate you with thousands of results. Guess how many of them paint lawyers in a good light? I haven’t found a single one. Even in jokes that combine professions, “A priest, an astronaut, and a lawyer walk into a bar” for example, It’s ALWAYS the lawyer that is portrayed as the bad guy. Have Lawyers been unfairly pigeon holed as the bad guy? I’m not going to say since I don’t want to be held liable. What i can tell you is that this after working with Lisa and her firm made these jokes a little less funny.

My father recently passed and he chose Lisa before hand to handle all of his end of life paperwork and how to set things up to make it easier for me and my siblings. A loss of a loved one is not an easy thing to deal with and getting mountains of paperwork in lawyer speak just adds salt to a very deep wound. Working with Lisa during an emotionally turbulent time, it never felt like I was talking to a lawyer, it was more like talking with an empathetic family member that could translate for you. She made the process far more bearable. Just knowing how to proceed from step to step and explained with affinity to the situation reduced my anxiety greatly.
