I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to find a bankruptcy attorney after years of struggling with my small business. I came to the point where I knew it wasn't going to succeed and debt certainly outweighed revenue. On top of this issue I have personal assets which were vulnerable because I personally guaranteed the majority of my debt. I don't believe I had a "cookie cutter' bankruptcy and needed to find some expert advice and strategy as I navigated towards this end.
I began my search for local Sacramento BK attorneys through the internet looking at websites, reviews and ratings. I had the opportunity to speak with several attorneys prior to finding the Law Office of Rick Morin and had several more cancel appointments because of the perceived complexity of my case. I subsequently contacted Rick Morin for a second opinion as I had concerns regarding guidance given by these initial firms. Rick Morin wasn't my first choice, but I wish he had been! Blindly searching, I wasted my time with these other firms until my discovery of Rick Morin.
To sum it up in as few sentences as possible, Rick Morin and his staff were very professional and responsive over the course of my case, from start to finish. Rick reviewed my case and provided guidance and a plan of action which was different and far better than other guidance given. Rick Morin is an expert in his field and his knowledge helped to form a plan of action which carried the best possible resolution. In the end, my BK was successful, Rick Morin honored every part of our agreement and kept me informed at every step of the process.
Do I have anything negative to say out my experience with Rick Morin? My answer is no. I only know about my situation, but Rick Morin quoted me one set fee for my case, whether he spent 100 hours or 1000 hours. Every time I had an issue come up, need a question answered, or received another harrassing voice message from a dubious creditor; Rick Morin and his staff quickly responded and addressed each one. Other firms wanted to charge an hourly rate or assign some dollar amount to the money they will save you. Don't fall for these tricks. Rick Morin was straight forward and did what he said he would.
Two final thoughts on my experience. First, Rick Morin is honest and "by the book." I was straight with him, with my situation and in turn received a straight forward answer. I'm doubtful he would accept anything else so if you are looking to scam the system, Rick is likely not the firm to go to. At my final hearing, I confirmed what I already knew about him. As I sat with other BK petitioners and watched their attorneys in action, I found that Rick Morin was the only attorney wearing a suit. All of these other attorneys were casually dressed and I can imagine their work may reflect such. Rick Morin was professionally dressed, act professionally and therefore received professionally by the Trustee and other parties involved. Rick represented my best interests and in-turn I received a better than expected result.
I would highly recommend the Law Office of Rick Morin for business and/or personal bankruptcy services.
