We had the pleasure of working with Cecilia Chen in the recent sale of my dental practice on Kauai, Hawaii. We had initially planned to work with a local attorney, but after having some difficulty getting a response from him, we spoke to our Henry Schein transition broker, Christy Conway, and asked her for a referral. She immediately recommended Cecilia, and we are so grateful that she did!

Cecilia was very knowledgeable, responsive, accessible and easy to work with. She clearly had a lot of experience working with dentists, including DSOs. Cecilia helped us with four documents – the Letter of Intent, Asset Purchase Agreement, Lease, and Employment Agreement. She provided sound guidance and advice, in a very timely manner, and there was never a concern whether or not she was putting our interests first. She listened to our questions and concerns, simplified the legal jargon, and provided information and examples so that we could make a decision of how to best handle each situation.

The legal document review is just one part of the overall sale of the business, and is a process in itself. We had many document revisions between the attorneys, that included negotiations between the owners. We wanted someone who would consider the pros and cons, and would always represent our interests. This is just one of Cecilia’s strengths.

Looking back, we know that having Cecilia as our attorney made the experience a lot less stressful than we thought it would be. We don’t think we could have reached the finish line without her, especially in the short time frame that we had.
