Patrick is great.
Family Court isn’t TV, it’s a long grind.
Patrick stuck with me through the entire grind for his original fee, he never raised it on me once and my divorce was brutal.
He treated me with dignity, respect and had no issue telling me to be more realistic when required.

You need to put in work. Nobody will care as much as you do - with that said, Patrick was open, communicative ie. literally his personal phone middle in the night while he was out of town on vacation kind of communication.

Yes, people make mistakes, we are human. I made plenty during my case - Patrick’s firm made one billing mistake, owned it immediately and fixed it. Keep your records organized and maintain them.

Has a bad attitude, zero compassion and poor listening skills.
I provided him with photographic evidence for my case and letters from witnesses proving I was the ACTUAL injured party, which he completely ignored and never presented to the court.
Dont flatter yourself 🙄....
He did NOT get my case dismissed. I did that MYSELF after 18 months and completing the requirements of the court...

Not only did his poor advice cost me a $18k in my court case as far as losing, it’s been over a year and I’m still cleaning up the mess that Patrick created for me. He’s very incompetent at his job, he didn’t even have the courtesy to return my calls/emails when I had realized how bad he screwed my case up. He basically encouraged me to agree to certain aspects of my divorce knowing they weren’t set in stone and had me under the impression the deal was far better than fighting for what I ACTUALLY wanted. Half the time he didn’t return my phone calls or emails and when he did he would always say “no update”… mostly because he wasn’t doing anything at all, proven by the fact I was able to do everything he was SUPPOSED to do, on my own in less than a month. I would not recommend him to anyone. I understand why he works so cheap, honestly, because it’s about all his “help” is worth.

My husband and I filled out the paperwork to get our Wills done. This was almost 2 months ago. I’ve tried and tried to get to the bottom of why it’s taken so long to no avail. One week ago I spoke with Mr Kratovil and he assured me it would be done and to me by the end of the week. It was not and now it’s into the new week and I called asking why I hadn’t received it yet. I was told it would be to me by the end of the day today. At the end of the day they called and said they’ve lost it. Now I have to find a new attorney since the last 2 mo the have been a total waste of time.

I hired James Kratovil around October of 2022 to defend me against some Protective Orders that were filed against me while protesting a group in Bunker Hill, WV. I was not surprised by the price charged and Mr. Kratovil did get the job done and the PO's were denied and dismissed. My problem being that once I paid him I did not get any responses to my emails or phone calls. On the day of my hearing I had not even spoken to him since before I paid the retainer. I was concerned about if he was even going to show up. I called his office and he was at court and he did his job to the minimal. OK fine. Next my friend hired him for the same price for the exact same PO's put on her by the same people. Again, no communication but we knew that he already knew the case and what he had to do. Here is the worst of it. We tried to hire him again for another friend that had the same PO's in appeals and a contempt charge. The son spoke to him and I spoke to James. The information requested was sent to the law office and they were supposed to call us back to give us a retainer price but it was a Friday and they assured my friend that they would be in court on that Monday. They never called for the retainer, they did not show in court on that Monday and they have refused to return phone calls since. We paid them $5000 for about 4 or 5 hours worth of work and then they promise to show and don't and refuse to communicate. One of the biggest complaints that clients have about attorneys is the lack of communication and mutual respect once they get paid. Not a good look Mr. Kratovil.

PS. I forgot...my friend and I both asked Mr. Kratovil to request that the Magistrate award us attorney fees for them filing false and improper POs. He refused both of us to even make the request. In addition, I specifically told him that I wanted a court reporter at my hearing at my expense. He refused to make those arrangements. This lack of procedure will affect my chances at a civil rights lawsuit. I needed that transcript!!!

All I can say is thanks. Had a speeding ticket 30 miles over and it got taking care of. My experience was excellent having you as my lawyer. I would definitely recommend Kratovil if your in the Charlestown wv area.
