Matt is an immense asset to our community and I cannot recommend him enough. He offers a calming presence while supporting clients through very difficult challenges. He has a such a dedication to his craft and takes the time to build a safe and supportive environment for each individual he serves. As his previous supervisor, Matt always received outstanding feedback from the families he served, and I know he genuinely cares about every person he works alongside. He has a curious and open mindset to growing his skillset and applies his knowledge and expertise in an ethical manner. I have referred clients to Matt in the past and will continue to do so because I trust his abilities and dedication to his work.

Very kind hearted therapists work here and serve those who are in need of support! The counselors here have a heart to help others work through their pain even when it's difficult to heal or do the inner work that's required of healing and growing. No therapist is perfect by any means but these therapists are top notch!

I have decided to provide this review after having a bill-collection agency bill me for an appointment that occurred in Sept 2023 and Ms. Michelle Logsdon, the therapist that I saw briefly, finally mailed a bill in April 2024. By that time, I had moved twice and so the US Postal Service was no longer forwarding mail from that old address. From my point-of-view, Ms. Logdson could have either emailed me or phoned me (she had both in her records that I filled out); instead, I'll probably have my credit score dinged.

But that is not my main complaint, only the thing that precipitated this "don't go here" review. I strongly disagree with her approach to depressed people with self-esteem issues, for the reason stated below.

I have had major depressive disorder (and anxiety) for several decades; over all that time, a key part of my problem -- childhood trauma -- was not diagnosed, in part, I suspect, because I could mask it. It was only recently that I got clarity, that past emotional trauma was playing a role and in retrospect, that more accurate diagnosis has helped me; but Ms. Logdson did not catch this; my perfectionism (clear to any therapist) helped masked my report of my childhood issues, which I would mention, but would downplay it.

At my final session, I was frustrated and anxious and said that I feel that I am not making progress. I distinctly remember Ms. Logsdon's response to that complaint: "You have to want to get better".

I came to all appointments and was cooperative; I was doing the best that I could. Such a response is not supportive or positive; rather, it is negatively judgmental, essentially saying that I was either not serious about therapy or that I was lazy. No other therapist has said anything like to me. I suspect that Ms. Logsdon was frustrated by my complaint, could not think of a more constructive reply, and answered defensively.

After getting notice from a bill collector, explicitly mentioned this to her. She was unmoved and said, "I will often challenge clients to gain an understanding of their willingness to actively participate in the therapy process. It is never intended to browbeat an individual."

Well, excuse me, but other therapists -- and my common sense -- have told me that that sort of comment is not supportive and is negatively judgmental. And none have accused me of not putting in effort. Hell, I can think of better responses than that. It was the reason why I stopped seeing her and she never followed up with any more supportive approach, only doubling down.

It is a shame that Ms. Logsdon insisted on sending me a bill that I did not receive and was shunted to a bill collector, which I found annoying, because I would not have been reminded of this unfortunate hurtful encounter. Ironically, that is what prompted this review. For that reason, I cannot recommend her to anyone for therapy, unless one likes that sort of approach.

Highly recommend Annie Vaughn as a therapist. I’ve never met a therapist who is so personally invested in her clients. Annie can make anyone feel comfortable, so if this is your first foray into counseling and feel a little nervous, she will be a good fit. She is great with kids, adults, couples, young and old.

If you want someone who genuinely cares and understands, then Annie is the therapist you need. I don't trust many people , none really but she's the exception. I promise if you need a therapist or counseling of any sort, she is more than qualified to me that doesn't matter as much as the fact that she genuinely cares.
