I’ve been going to Hernandez Tax & Accounting to do my federal and state taxes for several years. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They always explain things clearly, which makes it easy for me to understand. When I’ve had to pay taxes — I always understood why and they always explained the process and what I needed to do to prepare for the following year so that I wouldn’t feel blindsided. The fees are reasonable and much better I think than what someone may pay at a chain tax preparation service. I’m glad I found this business and will keep coming back as long as their doors are open.

I brought my documents to Hernandez Tax and Accounting in March of this year to complete my annual income tax returns. The first time I attempted to contact them, which was via a message/email on their website, nobody responded. About a week later, I telephoned and was told they had not received my email/message. This can happen to anyone given IT is imperfect. I then made arrangements to bring in my documents and was notified when they had been completed. Hernandez is very costly and I was told their base rate was $160. Come May of this year, I received a check of over $400 from the IRS and a letter stating that there was a miscalculation which Hernandez made. Fine, because I was glad to see that I did not owe as much as was calculated. After that, I phoned Hernandez because I wanted to discuss a different tax issue. I left a voicemail and nobody returned my call. So, I am now done with Hernandez. No response to my supposedly unddelivered email, no response to the voicemail I left, and an over $400 error on my return. You can get much cheaper rates elsewhere. Also, I would be surprised if the owner replies to this review.

The staff is very professional and helpful. The location is easy to find off Lake street, but try not to confuse it with the other tax place down the street. The owner Nery is very organized and I would highly recommend her!
