Our marriage had been falling apart for years, but the Pandemic made it painfully obvious to both of us that we needed to cut our losses and move on. Once we both got on the same page about what needed to be done, we had to figure out how to divide our assets fairly. When we decided to use divorce mediation, my ex and I agreed that we’d each interview several mediators from Yelp, then compare notes and pick the best one. I had been very impressed when I spoke to Glenn at Gravitas Mediation, but my ex felt strongly that we should use a woman from another firm. We compared all the mediators’ pros and cons, and to me going with Glenn seemed like a no-brainer, but against my better judgment I gave in and agreed to go with my husband’s pick.

My ex-husband’s choice of mediators turned out to be a complete disaster. After the first session we almost ended up forgetting about mediation, hiring lawyers and wasting thousands of dollars. Despite the false start due to our initial misstep with the other mediator, the overall cost of our mediation was surprisingly reasonable; my only regret is that we didn’t start off working with Gravitas Mediation from the beginning.

My duplicitous, scheming, dishonorable weasel of an ex-husband “borrowed” enough cash from his mistress to file divorce papers against me. It required that he take time away from his busy schedule of carousing, infidelity, imbibing narcotics and thievery, but he always says that he puts family first 😉
