We had mediation a month ago, tenants never showed up. No one will contact us back to get this certificate so we can go to court! We have emailed and called so many time to our case worker Elizabeth - no response for a full month. The case is under Gunnar Johanson. We have had 10 months of no rent from a delinquent tenant, we need to get to courtโ€ฆ we canโ€™t afford to loose anymore!!! Itโ€™s getting so hard. If ANYONE could pls contact me so I can get this certificate, Gunnar Johanson.

Mediation is a challenging endeavor. But, one thing I noticed from the beginning was a very un-diverse group of mediators, while the room was incredibly diverse. I'm sure stating this will warrant the "color-blind" response (which, in turn, could serve to minimize/marginalize my observation). There were some cultural nuances I noticed during my mediation that left something to be desired, as the individual I was in dispute with, (even though him being the defendant) was allowed to ramble while my stating the facts that created this dispute felt cut-short. Not wanting to present a problem without a solution, I would recommend establishing a cultural baseline of sorts by having mediators take the Implicit Bias Test and have professional facilitation/discussion regarding individual results. This test is free (conducted in conjunction with Harvard, MIT and University of Washington), and can be done along with Undoing Institutional Racism training, so that mediators get a stronger understanding of what biases they may bring to their interactions.

How can you force mediation when one of the other party named in suit does mot show up. In Everett District court you do not have to show for MANDATORY Mediation and there is no penalty.
