I’ve known Dawn personally and professionally for over ten years, and seen firsthand the extensive effort she puts into her community by volunteering, donating her time and knowledge, teaching the parenting class through MCC, and being a staunch supporter of children and what’s best for them.
I see several poor reviews on here and can assume they are from the parent that didn’t get the outcome they hoped for in a divorce case. As a guardian ad litum, Dawn is the voice for children, and doing that job when the adults around them are behaving poorly is no easy feat. Keeping in strict accordance of laws will not make you popular if you’re not benefitting. Dawn has worked hard to build up her own firm and has time and again shown she is willing to do the hard work even when it makes her the target of vitriol. Having personally had a GAL as a youth, I know the priceless part they play in the lives of children in custody cases.
When utilizing Dawn as a lawyer, I always received straightforward answers to all questions I had, even if it wasn’t what I hoped for. A lawyer’s job is to use their knowledge and experience to assist their clients, and Dawn did that, step by step helping me navigate through a stressful and overwhelming process.
I’ve had lawyers in the past who have seemed content to drag on cases for months with useless paperwork, charging exorbitant fees for little effort. I felt Dawn was intent on making the process as smooth and quick as possible, and treated all adults in our case respectfully and professionally. From experience I know she is well respected as a lawyer and GAL with judges and other lawyers because of her straightforward and professional ethics.
Hopefully at some point these parents who are so angry now can look back and realize that what Dawn was doing her job commendably, working for was in the children’s best interests, not the adults.

I had a very disappointing experience with this person. She was assigned by the judge, so I had no choice in the matter. This is solely my experience. She seemed to do whatever was convenient for her. For example, at the very beginning, I had to sign a form, which I did and sent via email. She then told me it wasn’t valid unless I brought it in person or sent it by mail. I drove almost 80 minutes to get there, only to find she wasn’t there. When I called her, she told me I could email it to her. This is how she operates—breaking her own rules for her convenience.

She charged an exorbitant amount of money for a simple recommendation, which was just one short paragraph. Her recommendations were unreasonable, such as suggesting I drive 90 minutes every other week to see my child for two hours. This was insane. She never returned my phone calls or responded to my emails, except when it was about billing.

I felt she wasn’t neutral and seemed biased against me. There were many signs and facts indicating manipulation and setups by the other side, which she ignored. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this person as a GAL for your case.

Dawn Roth is an excellent family attorney. Dawn well informs the court of the truth and factual data that determines parenting cases. She kept me, the petioner, well-informed of all court related matters. Dawn teaches the parenting class, "Focus on the Kids," on her own time, after hours. Worst thing to ever have happened to our family. Our lives are forever negatively effected. I don’t believe this person should be in this position because of how her impact effects the rest of our families lives. This is not a game. It’s serious future and peoples lives she is effecting. I strongly do not recommend her. I hope she one day reflects on her destroying my family that was in good shape before we came across her. Very sad.
