This is the best library, with services for all ages, other items than books to check out, and absolutely great staff! I would say if you just moved to coal city, diamond, or anywhere nearby this is the best library to go to and get a library card which is free to get (if you need a reply you need to pay but it's not the expensive) My family has been going here since when me and my sister were little to now when we are in middle school and high-school. I will never choose a different library.

Just recently moved here and this has to be one of my all time favorite libraries by far. Very inviting with plenty to read, see and do. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. An all around gorgeous building with genres for everyone.

This is by far, my favorite library in the area. I used to live in coal city and moved to Morris but I still drive to the Coal City library. It's spacious and very well lit with a comfortable sitting arrangement near the magazines. The upstairs is dedicated to nonfiction only, as far as I've seen. Also on the second level is at least one research librarian at all times if you need help. The library sometimes serves as, what I'd describe, a community center offering classes and demonstrations on various subjects. I don't know what children's section is like because I haven't any. The staff at the library have at times, gone above board for me when I requested a particular book that wasn't in their interlibrary system. One was ordered from a university library from out of state and others from libraries out of state. This place is a fine example of our tax dollars at work.
