Ms. Jenifer Behme may have passed boards and be knowledgeable about the law but this is not carried on in practice. The memos she writes are full of grammatical errors, incorrect names, dates & info, and delay in emailing info. The only email that was on time was when I fired her as my lawyer- she wanted her final pay quickly. From my perspective she does not have the best interest of the client in mind. She cannot explain in simple terms what the court order, memo is stating to the client. I'm not a lawyer- I look to the lawyer for legal term translation, etc. She is quick to have the bill typed and ready at the end of each month. Overly priced and poor legal outcome. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Jennifer Behme is worth every penny. She worked her tail off to put us in the best position for success. She made a very stressful and long process much easier. When pressed against a rock and a hard place, she found us a way out. She works hard, is relentless, and a rockstar. If you need a no-nonsense attorney, we highly recommend Jennifer Behme.

Before I get to Jennifer, I have to say that others in the Firm are great. As for Ms. Behme... Jennifer is just a paper pusher. She will not fight for you, especially if you are male. This comes out if you disagree with her on anything. In my case, I lost extra money because she couldn't properly perform cutoffs on bank statements. When I questioned her, she quickly placed the blame on me. This is why you would be better off representing yourself as the high earner. She will just do whatever opposing counsel says unless you manage the case.

Zero stars if possible. Several attorneys of the Belleville area and I questioned together how Behme has the career that she does. I do not think she should be in a position of power or as a GAL making decisions or “recommendations” over anyone’s children or lives. In my situation she seemed to take things very personally and it felt that she acted on those emotions in her position when she was offended by my truth or I disagreed with her lack of acknowledgment and effort to my side of things. Which as you can imagine, could easily turn someone’s life upside down unfairly and unethically. She actually only spoke to me truly once, only asking very few questions, the very first interview and I felt she made it very uncomfortable moving forward for me to try to speak to her in regards to my side of things. I knew exactly what she thought of me before she spoke it on the stand. And when she spoke it on the stand, I could’ve swore my ex wrote it up himself. The narrative was eerily similar. Baffling situation because I knew she did not know me or my life and children, at all. In any capacity.

A lot to say but I’ll leave it at that. Not a good experience, it was actually one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in my life. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Good luck to those trying to actually find middle ground in a hard life altering situation, while keeping the best interest of your children and yourself in mind.

Ms. Behme is the best family law attorney one could ask for. She is intelligent and articulate. Her decade's worth of experience shows in her apparent knowledge of the law, and her courtroom presence. She tells it like it is and doesn't mince her words, but is perceptive and astute. She seems to work around the clock 24/7 ensuring that her clients get her best representation. You cannot go wrong with having Jennifer Behme represent you in your legal needs.

To start off with at least one good thing about her, it’s obvious she has a lot of legal knowledge. However, now with all of the bad things, Jennifer Behme is an overhyped, overpriced, untrustworthy lawyer who uses those skills to maximize her own money profits and does nothing to make sure you get the proper defense in court or in a settlement. You could hire a lower priced lawyer who could have gotten better, if not similar results. There was one of many bad experiences where she knew a court order was approved for me to visit my kid, and my ex-wife’s lawyer was saying the order was approved so I could see my kid, but Behme waited a long time to finally tell me the court order was approved and could visit my son. Unfortunately, I listened to my ex-wife’s lawyer and got my kid anyways before Behme told me, so I could theoretically give good compliments to my ex-wife’s lawyer, (but won’t). Behme is also a master of not recommending anything, but sputtering a bunch of vague, nebulous legal facts that oftentimes takes her almost a week to type a letter memo that she charges hundreds of dollars to both mail and e-mail you. If you ask her to explain the memo, she’ll charge you more for explaining it. I also remember all the grammatical errors and typos in all those memos she charged so much for. She was also “amazing (insert sarcasm)” at not defending me in court, getting chummy with the judge and my ex-wife’s lawyer, watching me get walked over, but yet “amazing (no sarcasm)” in acting as my ex-wife’s second lawyer. As another disclaimer Belleville lawyers also appear to have a close-knit network to collectively maximize profits, so I would recommend looking outside of Belleville or the Metro East St Louis area if you plan to go to court with another lawyer in Belleville.

I hired Jennifer and fired her a couple months later due to her being late to court, completely unprepared causing the judge to reschedule a hearing for which we were already there and charged for, has no idea what she is doing besides typing up a bunch of legal nonsense that over complicate the case and add chaos. I’d never recommend Jennifer.

Does not care about her clients, their situation, nor the case. Most important item to her is money. Be prepared to pay about 2000 a month for her services. We hired her to help with our family case and it was a struggle to get communication from her and then when the case got more complicated she demanded an additional retainer for the same thing we hired for in the first place. When we told her that we were impacted by this COVID situation she didnt care and demanded copious amounts of money from us. We offered a payment plan which she refused asking for the full amount in full. Whem we had to retain other council to represent us because of her refusal to perform any actions until she was paid in full we told her that we still intended to pay her whatever amount we could afford a month. Rather than understanding or agreeing to a payment plan she immediately asked for a judgement against us for the full amount. That filing and the email responses about her money was the only things she did fast throughout the hold time we had her. It would take days to get an email response but when it was about her money she responded in seconds. Took her a week to file a motion for us in the case but her judgement request motion she filed minutes after we emailed about a payment plan. Save yourself some trouble and find yourself a lawyer that cares about the clietnt, the case and not how much money you represent to them.
