Brenda Crim and her staff are wonderful hosts. This is a well organized and managed mission retreat center with clear purpose and sincere hearts to serve the people of Alaska. Facilities were very clean and comfortable. Meals were amazingly good. Our 18 member church team served during the middle week of the Salmon Frenzy July month. All the materials needed for the outreach were provided by the Alaska Missions. A knowledgeable staff and three interns were assigned to help at our Kenai River dipnet beach location. We setup an all beef hotdog grill with yummy lemonade area and water bottles station. We also had kids craft, game area, picnic table and bouncy house for the kids to enjoy. During the trash pickup beach walks, we met many who were camping to dipnet and got to know many of them. All of this is free for people to enjoy so they don't have to worry about cooking food for their family during dipnet fishes to get their season quota to feed their family. Many had one hotdog returned and brought their other family members and friends for more since the hotdogs were very good quality and freshly grilled. Kids also enjoyed the crafts, games and the bounce house. Many of them returned and made friends with other kids. Each of the three beach locations has an amazing view of the Alaska landscape. We also had a Sunday beach service where many of those at the beach came to join us to sing together and hear a short message from our assistant pastor. God blessed us with three days of sunshine and cloudy with no rain while we served at the Kenai River Dipnet Beach area. We had an amazing experience! Consider going to serve and meeting new people to build friendships. The Alaska Missions also have other mission opportunities additional to the Salmon Frenzy mission.
