I usually do not like writing reviews, especially negative reviews, as it can can cause a lot of reputational harm to a company. However, I have to caution strongly against using these services. My tax return that was prepared by A&C tax advisors has been audited due to a mistake in their software (they did not have the software update to include changes in the tax law from 2017 even though my tax return was filed in 2022). The tax law change was a major one that likely affects many home owners in the Northern Virginia community. The tax audit was covered by A&C's insurance, but it has taken a lot of time and energy to provide supplementary documentation that is needed. The mistake that was made was significant in my opinion, and should not have happened. It is especially egregious because I was the one who had to identify the mistake to the tax preparer, she did not know about it and did not know that their software had this mistake. It has resulted in a significant and unexpected tax liability.

Upon reviewing the other elements of my tax return, I've also noticed another major error that was missed, and I have a second tax preparation company to help me refile this tax return. It has been a giant problem. I caution you to stay away if you have a bit of complexity in your tax filings.

Claudia responded to my project inquiry via Yelp and we proceeded with a consultation call. After we decided to go with them, we were instructed to upload documents into a secure portal, which was super convenient. We had some email back and forth and some more calls within the next 2-3 weeks, but Claudia did an amazing job with handling our capital gains and multi-state income situation, as well as filing jointly the first time. Our taxes were filed on time, the price was reasonable, and going with Claudia saved us so much stress. We highly recommend this business!

I highly recommend Claudia Barbosa and A&C Tax Advisors for tax preparation . When I first reached out to Claudia with my very complex tax situation, she listened, asked very detailed questions, and was very compassionate and understanding. I felt assured that Claudia understood my situation and had my back. Claudia quickly put together a plan and expertly amended 5 past returns with detailed notes in each return justifying my case to the IRS. She even got me refunds on a few of them. I will only take my taxes to Claudia from now on!

I had a crazy amount of financial changes this year, and I had no idea how I was going to sort it all out. Claudia took care of it for me with painstaking attention to detail. She hunted down answers for all of my questions and for all of the various little deductions I could get, and managed to get me a return that was much greater than I expected. From my initial phone call till the very end, Claudia was kind, compassionate, and clearly driven to help me in any way that she could. Just called to cancel my appointment with this place because my partner went here last week to get preparation and filing- charged $160 for a couple of W2 forms, one being out of Virginia. That’s honestly a rip off. I can go to another PROFESSIONAL tax filing service and get charged less than $100 for the same work and effort. Also the woman I talked to on the phone was very unprofessional and rude. I can’t stand people talking over me and she persisted to do it. That is so disrespectful in my eyes. Let someone finish what they are saying and wait for a pause/silence to respond. Don’t just speak on top of them with a louder voice. I highly recommend finding business elsewhere, you’ll get charged way too much here and the people working there are not professional and respectful in their interactions.
