Rich provided us with support that went beyond just handling the divorce proceedings until we had a favorable agreement we could both live with. . He was able to influence our settlement conversations when we hit a wall by gently suggesting alternatives that we hadn't considered to address issues such as alimony--the amount and length of time.

Living now on the other side of the divorce, I'm grateful that my ex-husband and I are still friends which most likely wouldn't have happened without mediation led by Rich.

Rich was there to guide us through the process during a confusing time. He's all that mature adults need, so long as they can handle their emotions and communicate responsibly. He used humor and clarity and moved at our pace. I look back at Rich's service with gratitude. All in all, my ex and I are now very good friends and we were able to keep our child out of the middle of the divorce and mitigate the damage. I'll mention that the cost was pennies compared to a messy divorce. I hope I never have to use his services again, but for anyone divorcing...he's your man.

A couple years after we finalized our marital settlement agreement, I was forced to consult an attorney because my ex was not living up to the agreement. It was then that I discovered how poorly written, vague and one sided the agreement prepared by Rich was. One glaring example (there were many) of just how poorly the agreement was prepared, was a missing exhibit (that was referenced in the agreement) that would have explained in detail one very important item, but the exhibit was never even filed with the court! After consulting with multiple attorneys, each one telling me the agreement was vague, poorly written and extremely one sided, I was forced to hire an attorney and reopen the case. I recall my ex telling me during mediation that I had to choose between child support and alimony, while Rich just sat there and said nothing. Admittedly, I was naive at the time. I learned later that I was entitled to both. AFTER I signed the agreement prepared by Rich, he looked at me and said: “I can’t believe you settled for so little” (when during the meetings his answers to my questions were very vague and confusing). I responded: “I asked you repeatedly what is usual and customary?” He responded by shrugging his shoulders. I walked out. I ended up spending an additional 18 months, plus 3 agonizing court appearances and $20,000 in legal fees years later before all the deficiencies were addressed, rewritten and filed with the court.

I highly recommend Rich.

He is incredibly fair and listens to both parties equally and unbiased. He goes above and beyond for his clients to get the job done and make sure everyone is heard.

Rich is very personable and helps you get through situations to deal with even the most "difficult" party.

Thank you SO much Rich for everything!

PLEASE avoid this mediator! As many others have said he is unprofessional and sleazy! Like others, I asked about the bill and was told not to worry about it. This led me to believe that the retainer had not been used, however once the papers were complete the bill was over twice as much as initially quoted. I complained and he did reduce my bill and then asked for $50 more than we had agreed upon.

Worse than that was how he spoke about my ex behind his back. In the initial meeting, my ex stepped out of the room to take a call and Rich immediately tried to engage me by saying he understood why I wanted a divorce. At first this felt good, as if he understood me and was on my “side”. Then it became obvious that he was slamming me behind my back to my ex. A mediator has no place taking sides EVER, they are professionally meant to be neutral advocates to a fair settlement. In the end this caused unnecessary strife between my ex and me.

Again, as others have said, his paperwork was grossly inaccurate. I will spare you the long story but in the end the paperwork he sent the court enabling me to obtain funds from my ex’s retirement account were returned due to gross errors. This delayed the distribution of funds to me by almost a year. Can I send him a bill for the lost interest I could have earned on those funds had he done his job correctly? I bet not!

Please do avoid this narcissistic creep!

My divorce was a difficult thing to go through. I cannot think or want to remember how difficult it was for me and my Ex. I really wanted to put it behind me and move on with my life. Rich made it so; He was considerate in all steps of the process.

Rich Gordon, the man behind A Fair Way Mediation Center, has some unfortunate views about Latinos. One particularly horrendous comment he made on Facebook was recently saved and widely shared. So many people were disgusted by what he said, it seems that Fair Way had to pull their own FB page because of all the negative comments.
