What can I say about this place other than it's the best place I've ever laid my head. These cabins are great! The location is awesome, with shops and restaurants galore just 2-3 minutes away. Cabins are rustic, as they should be. Skip, the owner and proprietor and my new adopted father figure is one of the nicest humans you'll ever encounter. Dan and Jackie the caretakers of the property are good hearted souls and easy to talk to. My wife and I loved this place and will definitely return. Still trying to talk Skip into letting me live here.

First off the owner Skip is super friendly and very entertaining to talk to. He was very helpful in going over the history of the property and going over things to do in Hot Springs. Our cabin (A) was nice. I wish we had a better view of the lake, but it is what it is. The cabin was clean, air blew cold, and shower was hot. These are the main things I look for when staying on a property. Very quiet and peaceful. Easy to access the docks. My only complaint was I really wanted to grill out, but the grill that was assigned to our cabin was rusted and full of wasps. Again it is what it is and if I stay there again I will simply bring my own grill. Super cheap 10 dollars a day per pet to stay. That is a big plus to me because we are dog lovers and like sharing our vacations with them. Often times facilities who allow pets punish you and charge way too much to provide accomodations for them. Overall I will give this property a solid (A)...We will definitely stay again when visiting Hot Springs...

Rustic cabins, quite beautiful lake views. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. This is our forth time coming and it won’t be our last. Skip is great, very accommodating. The cabin comes with breakfast fixings replenished ever day. Close to restaurants and about 4 miles from downtown

We stayed in one of the newer, 3 bedroom cabins. The layout was good, the open kitchen was perfect, there were two TVs with a good sattelite signal, the kitchen was well stocked (note: no pitcher for iced tea, etc---a strange item to be lacking, if you want one bring your own).||||Beds were reasonably comfortable. Bedding were older sheets, with some stains on them, but they were clearly freshly washed and clean; and older, worn qults---which are probably not washed between every guest (nor are hotel comforters) but seemed clean and you could easily not touch them when sleeping, by folding the sheet top over a bit.||||Overall, the cabin was pretty clean. I did not see the cleanliness issues some posters have----the kitchen was clean (though I always rinse all dishes in rentals), etc---however deep cleaning was absolutely lacking. I dropped a neckalce behind the nightstasnd and when I slid it over, behind it was filfthy--housekeeping has obviously not moved things to get dirt and grime out of less obvious places. I had a similar issue when trying to hook up one of the DVD players which had been unplugged. Behind the TV stand was gross. Everything clearly visible and accessible was clean---but all those less obvious places were not---so niether terrible nor really high standards either.||||The lake is lovely and the cabins are on a really pretty stretch of it---with a nice little gazebo area to sit in and enjoy (and decently fast wifi accessible from the gazebo too). However, there was a LOT of washed up trash all in the woods very visible in our view from the cabin. Old tires, beach balls, bottles, etc----seemed to be a good season's worth or more just left to rot in plain sight. For the price point of these cabins, I would expect the owners to stay on top of cleaning the property.||The location is only about 5 miutes from many shops and eateries while feeling very much out in a rural seting--which is so nice.||||Various small items were broken: kitchen sink was missing the handle to turn it on, it was still possible to do so, but took effort (someone staying with us had been there before and the same handle was missing a year prior), one DVD did not work, etc.||||The stocked items for breakfast made things easy and were tastey. The owener was very friendly and talkative and willing to come up to light the pilot light on the gas stove when we wanted to use it.

Second time back to Five Points. Stayed in Cabin E again. Skip is this same, very friendly and keeps the breakfast fix ins stocked. Enjoyed the fishing on the Lake this time. Brought some friends this trip and a boat. Quite and secluded but close to the city for anything that you need. Wal-Mart is like 5 minutes away. Everything went fine on the trip, but i have a few recommendations. Trim some of the branches so that you can really the view of the lake from the front porch. Also some basic maintenance needs to be addressed like kitchen faucet and tub drains that are slow to drain. Easy drive from Houston, even pulling a boat. WIFI access works best at the Gazebo only. Has private boat ramp and slips.

Stayed in Cabin E for 3 long days which seemed like a year. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE!!||||From the moment we walked in the front door of this cabin, we regretted booking here. This place was an absolute filthy rundown dump. Not at all what we were expecting for $230 per night. Every window is covered with huge webs and filthy. The blinds are all dirty and broken with pieces of slats missing and one window had no blind at all. The kitchen faucet does not turn off and runs at a constant stream (not just a little drip). The dishes were covered in dust, dirt and grime. The dish drainer was equally filthy. Pictures on the wall, light fixtures, lamps, tables, tv's, etc. were all covered in huge cobwebs and dirt. The bedding smells and appears to be at least 15 years old. The mattresses on the 3 beds were very uncomfortable, cheap and extremely old and worn out. They offered no support at all. The "sofa" is an old cheap futon that does not even setup strait. The bathrooms smelled like a sewer, and one had severe water damage with floor tiles that were loose. The floor vents were not held in place and moved leaving a hole in the floor. No soap, no shampoo, no hair dryer, no iron, and NO WIFI, no cell phone service. The tv upstairs did not work because Skip (the owner) told us the squirrels has eaten through the wiring. The ceiling fan upstairs also did not work. The barbecue grill was as filthy dirty as everything else and looked as though it had not been cleaned nor used for years. There was fast food containers and trash under the patio and in the water in front of the cabin. The baskets on the wall in the bathroom that appeared to be for holding toothbrush, etc. were covered in dirt. The bath towels and bed blankets stunk and looked to be from the 1980's. The floors in the cabin were so filthy that after going barefoot for 5 minutes inside the bottoms of our feet were literally black from the filth. The refrigerator was dirty inside and out. The microwave was rusty and dirty. The gazebo with picnic tables and seating to enjoy the lake were also filthy and covered in huge cobwebs and insect webbing that clearly has been built up over many years of neglect. The decking around the gazebo has large holes in it where boards have been broken and never replaced. The light switch at the gazebo has no faceplate and is held together with all tape and is electrical wiring open to the elements. The decking is also covered in bird poop. ||||Needless to say, it was not a fun and relaxing stay. Instead of cooking our meals at the cabin and grilling out as we had planned, we had to go out to eat every meal because the kitchen and cabin were so nasty dirty we were afraid to even try to cook. And the cookware was worse than cookware I have thrown away.||||When Skip took us to our cabin, he proudly told us that the cleaners had just finished cleaning the cabin. Oh my, I cannot image it could have been even worse. ||||We could not let our 3 year old play as normal because the cabin was so dirty. ||||It is really sad that the owners have neglected the property. The cabin structure is very nice, but there are lots of basic maintenance and repairs that need to be made and lots of cleaning needed, as well as new mattresses, new bed linens, and bath towels. ||||DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE!!!

We came up here for a family weekend away with our two year old daughter and dog. It was absolutely beautiful this time of year! The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time disconnecting from electronics to enjoy downtime to relax. There is no WiFi (which was what we wanted), but there was a TV with basic cable and a DVD player if you need it to keep little ones entertained. We will definitely be back!
