We used Matt Cohen & Associates to represent our family. My honest rating of this firm is a C. There are a lot worse and some better, but School districts use A and B rated attorneys so be aware and give yourself a fighting chance.
Most important would I recommend Matt Cohen & Associates to another family fighting a battle with a school district sadly I would Not Recommend.

I requested to meet with the attorney I sent in all my documentation and was informed he will review it and go over it with me during the call. When I met him he was rude and arrogant. He said he gets paid for his time and he wasn't reviewing anything. The office had reorganize and renamed everything I sent over so I wasn't able to locate anything and the attorney was in a rush and refused to be patient so we could review the documents. He changed his fees verbally several times and said if my prior attorney knew what they were doing I wouldn't need him then he ended the call within the first 10 mins or so and now he wants to charge me for services he NEVER RENDERED. He is a cheater and a rip off he cares nothing about our children just money and how much he can get paid off your case.RUN DO NOT USE HIM!

Only thing we got from this lawyer is a hefty bill for THOUSANDS of dollars. Nothing at my sons school was resolved and the only thing we got out of it was a daily communication sheet. It shouldn't have to be so hard and expensive for services to support a special needs child. Even lawyers have no idea how much money it costs for therapies etc. Its sad enough we have to fight so hard for everything. This lawyers office is just another barrier. Keep looking!

Although I sought legal assistance, Atty Cohen is considered the best special education attorney in IL thus, it's quite difficult, or at least it was for us, to obtain legal assistance/advice from Cohen & Associates in my opinion. I really wish I could as I've been trying to defend my twin grandsons and my granddaughter's rights as 2e students for several years.

I called and asked if Atrorney Cohen practiced a certain area of law and was told he had won many cases of this type and was very knowledgeable about it so I went ahead and paid for a consult. However. When I talked to him during the consult he said that was an overstatement and that he did not know the law on the subject. It was alot to pay and not get the guidance I needed.
