Mr Hedayat & his staff represented my Mother & I, assisting us with a range of needs admirably. My Dad has passed away with no will or testament, so we wanted to make sure that it was done right and fairly.

They helped us by
filling and representing us;
1) File the appropriate legal notices, and paperwork with the court system.
2) Quit claims for the condo that was in Dad's name and he had never had Mom added.
3) Eviction of a non-paying tenant.
4) I released claims of property to my Mom.
5) We set up a power of attorney, both legal and medical for my Mom.

They kept in touch with us, and were always willing to answer any questions we had, and put our minds at ease.

Excellent firm, I highly recommended them! Thank you Mazyar & Staff!

I first contacted M. Hedayat & Associates for legal assistance on a mechanics lien case. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy he was to talk to, & how very knowledgeable he was on this type of legal issues. Once I met w/him, I felt even more confident, & he was able to walk me through how the whole process works, & he gave me some great advice how to move forward. His over 30 years in this type of law was extremely helpful! I'm sure w/his help, I will be successful & feel good about any future legal problems that I might need professional legal help with!

Hedayat claimed to have decades of litigation experience. When filing his Appearance, he paid a fee but it was a free filing. His office failed to catch the error in billing and I had to advise them of the mistake multiple times to correct billing. Though I gave Hedayat many electronic files of discovery documents already produced and a list of those documents, Hedayat had his staff review the documents and compile another list. Though the Court held Status Hearings over the internet and Hedayat didn’t have to travel to the courthouse, Hedayat billed hours to attend Status Hearings that usually only last 15 to 20 minutes, thousands in billing consumed.

When hired, Hedayat claimed he had practiced before the assigned judge. Instead of pressing Plaintiffs’ lack of production documents and lack of response to a 201k letter during a Status Hearing, which is the first usual step, Hedayat drafted a formal motion to compel and set a briefing schedule. Plaintiffs didn’t file a Response but responded orally during the set hearing claiming they didn’t have any more documents. Hedayat claimed this was a victory, but also stated the court wouldn’t have granted the relief Hedayat sought in his motion without further briefing. However, he later failed to enforce that victory when additional information was obtained. Then Hedayat and staff sent several emails, thousands in billing, arguing with me whether or not I should be able to review documents Plaintiffs did produce and other issues. Hedayat’s and staff’s arguing directly violated multiple Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC), mandatory licensing regulations.

Then we were supposed to set depositions. Hedayat wanted to depose someone who hadn’t been involved in any matter for 30 years, wasn’t a party, hadn’t been heard from in years and lived in a different State. I asked why depose someone without any involvement, but he replied that questions should be asked of this person, what questions. Hedayat actually set the deposition date without any contact info. Another email basically indicated Hedayat was going to depose the court reporter. Depositions were set for others but just before those were scheduled, additional information was received indicating Plaintiffs were hiding responsive documents. Rather than enforcing his claimed victory from the errant motion to compel, Hedayat did nothing. Hedayat and staff started a new argument. Rather than answering my questions, according to him asking questions is actually wrong as all I may do is approve the cost and have “No additional input”. I am just supposed to pay the bill he generated. Hedayat’s and his staff’s continued arguments and other issues also consumed billable time and were in direct multiple violations of the Supreme Court’s RPCs. Even his retainer agreement violates the RPC.

The above doesn’t address the information given under attorney/client which should not have been disclosed to Plaintiffs but was disclosed. Hedayat hired part time or temp personnel and the last was a new Law Clerk who was still in High School playing on the softball team. Before he withdrew, he was giving notice that additional matters needed to be investigated prior to Plaintiff’s deposition and was asked to and required to obtain additional time to take depositions to preserve my rights. He filed his motion to withdraw, but failed to preserve my rights and seek an extension of time for depositions. Current counsel may not be able to depose anyone and was forced to enter the suit responding to Plaintiffs’ motion for partial summary judgment. Hedayat claimed he has decades of litigation experience and this is the result of that claimed experience.

This is only some issues.

Do you think the above constitutes malpractice or something else? Is this your next attorney?

First and foremost, before reading my review, you should know that Mazyar is the best at real estate and bankruptcy law in DuPage county. Just call him if this is what you are looking for expertise in.

We had a referral to two prestigious firms in the area from a very prominent retired local attorney that had years of running an extremely successful practice that still operates. The first one said that is a difficult case and it sounds like too much time. The second one said that is out of my league; referred yet another lawyer and that lawyer even declined our case.

We then called Mazyar. He knew it was tough, but said “I can handle that”. He was quick to assess our situation and very transparent about options; Mazyar and his associates were responsive every step of the way. I tried to think I knew options, but Mazyar is the lawyer he knew every angle, every option. If we didn’t have him and his team in our court we likely would have lost everything. It took about 4 months to resolve things and he would give me updates and reassure us every step of the way.

When it came down to the final days he was finding every way possible to save me a few dollars, and prevented certain individuals from taking more advantage of us. He knew exactly when to negotiate, and what legal procedures to follow.

His rates were reasonable, and never saw a bill and thought what is this charge for.

Seriously, do not look elsewhere. If you need a lawyer for real estate or bankruptcy in Chicago there isn’t a better one.

By the end of all of this I felt like Mazyar, Nayeli, and Trudi are like friends to us after what we went through; just really good people. The professionalism and dedication is unmatched; and I don’t think it’s possible to find someone anywhere in Greater Chicago that would do the quality of work that they did.

Mr. Hedayat gave us a very honest advice about our case. Even though we reached out to him in the last minute, he was willing to accept our case. He moved quickly and was able to present us in the court.

Mr. Hedayat does care about the interest of his clients but at the same time he provides you with realistic solution.

Mr. Hedayat was appointed our lawyer in a short sale, and we couldn't be happier. Everything went super, super smooth. Theresa was the person we dealt with, and she was AWESOME! Always attentive and very personable. It's not easy to be in these situations, but it's nice when you have a team of people supporting you. Theresa always had the answers we needed and got things done quickly. Hopefully we won't need services like this again, but we would never hesitate to use this firm or recommend them!

I worked with Theresa and Eric for my home purchase. These 2 were the absolute greatest people I could have ever dealt with. They both made the process as stress free as could be. Theresa was always taking my phone calls, even called me to check on things and asked if I had any questions during the entire process..She was on top of everything. I had a good feeling the first time I spoke to her. I knew I'd be in good hands. When I got to closing I sat with Eric who immediately made me feel so comfortable and at ease. He explained all the paperwork 1 page at a time.. he was very kind and pleasant. I knew I was in the right hands... This firm is #1... the very best,./. would absolutley recommend them !!!
