It’s a good law firm. They will get you your money, possibly more than what you have expected great job getting me what I got and I’m excited to get that. You might have to call them about your check because they do have a high workload and they do get behind but outside of that they get the job done So I’ve been salute them I just say for future reference if you guys can work on your communication a little bit more and stay in tune with your client that would be a great help but overall great job I get to pick up my check this week. Thank you for your hard work.

I had a case with them several years ago. This firm did OK work on my case. I could tell they are a high volume personal injury firm. They did adequate work on my case, and I was happy with what I walked away with.

I regret not going back to them. Instead, I tried another firm (and instead left kind of a nasty, albeit truthful comment on their Google review board.).

November of 2022 my case has been on going with attorney Hugh Mainard.the Case was suppose to settle in October2024 then November following December to January 2025. I had signed a settlement agreement in January 2025. Yet Hugh Mainard ( associate attorney in my case)did not forward it to the opposing party.He Will not address many of the questions I ask. He simply uses the word bizzare and strange as an answer. He has been dishonest in my experience and I have proof of it. Everyone do your research before you decide who will represent you. I have tried many times to speak with a Dworkin or someone in management to no avail. My calls kept being directed to Hugh Mainard. I am not surprised of the response. I am not in the system? Well this proves how much they value their clients.

Brett Kaplan was the injury lawyer who handled everything, and I couldn’t have asked for better representation. He was attentive, professional, and always made sure I felt informed and supported throughout the process. The law firm itself is excellent—very responsive and truly dedicated to their clients.

One thing to note is that the firm works with many medical providers, and it’s important for each person to choose wisely or find their own provider that will truly take care of them. That being said, my review is specifically about the legal team, and I can confidently say that Brett Kaplan and The Illinois Hammer team go above and beyond for their clients. If you’re looking for a reliable, professional, and dedicated injury law firm, I highly recommend them.

I was injured on October 13, 2024 at work due to my boss not following protocol and refused to help me assist a “2 Assist” at my old job. (Healthcare) I say old job because I was fired over this worker’s comp case. I am 29 years old and have not worked in over a year due to this unresolved injury. At first I was hopeful but that hope turned to regret really fast when it came to my decision to use “The Hammer”.

After hiring them I called many times to get updates and to try and be helpful but every time I called I would be told to call at a different date. The last time I remember them telling me to call was June of 2024 and when I did they said call back in August of 2024, so I did and was told to not call back and that they would call me. The first person representing me was a MONSTER! I felt like I was in trouble when I called and it would make my physically sick when I got off the phone with whoever it was. Name started with an “O” I believe. The last person I talked to was a man named Joe, he was a little nicer but still didn’t seem to be much help.

Over the course of 15 months I have spoken with these people for a total of 10 minutes.

How do you expect to defend someone when you are clearly not Interested in hearing what they have to say?

My Doctor was working on me getting cleared for spinal surgery but Workers Comp. dropped me for following my doctors order by going out and getting a different pair of shoes. Me buying a pair of shoes threw this whole case out. Me following the directions of a physician cost me my income and so far “The Illinois Hammer” has been zero help! This has been a nightmare and this injury has caused issues in my life I am too embarrassed to put in this review. Being hurt at 29, and not being able to do normal hobbies or even take care of children doesn’t leave me with much of a life to live. The average person lives till they are what, 80 or so? That leave me 51 years to live with crippling back pain. 👍🏼

These only getting 3 stars because of my final(I've had about 8 attorneys during my case) attorney, attorney Will. These dude can make salt sweeter than sugar. He was able to get their vendors that serviced me back to health to come down off their extravagant billings to something more decent( still to high of a cost in my book) but all in all I say he was fair. If you want an attorney that will go all the way for you with tanks on his back request Attorney Will.

I wouldn't hire this firm again if my life depended on it. If I could leave 0 stars or even negative stars that's what they would get. My case was settled on October 24th 2024. It started in December of 2020. I have had 4 different attorneys with John being the one who closed it. I agreed to an amount in November of 2023. I agreed to an amount with Ben. Ben left and my case was transferred to John. John told me he was not aware of any settlement offer. A year later when in front of a judge I was offered almost the same amount that I had agreed to almost a year before. I agreeded because I was bouncing back and forth taking care of my mom who was dying of cancer. I did not have the energy to keep fighting with them my attention needed to be 100% on my mom. Do not ask for a call back that will never happen. Do not ask for an update because they do not know what is going on every single time I've called it's always someone has to call you back they do not return phone calls. As I said my case was settled in October. It is now March of 2025. I've yet to see a check. Paid them 40% of my settlement which came to a little over 30,000 dollars. John my attorney is not good at communicating I've asked to speak to a partner attorney that has been refused. Only once has a " senior partner" spoke to me. Two weeks ago whomever I spoke to said they would call me back that afternoon it did not happen. When I call the lady named Silvia is rude. I signed releases on December 6th over a month after my case closed. I called back in January and wouldn't you know that I didn't sign all of the releases signed them again confirmed all of my information. Waited the 30 days again and they were still waiting on a check. Called again in February they still had not gotten a check. Two weeks ago I spoke to them again like hey where's my check I was told were coming to the end let me get with my accountant and I'll call you back with a time line. Did not get a call back. Today I called Silvia told me you won't speak to your attorney so I don't know what to tell you. I asked her if she would speak to a man that is condescending and talks to her like she's stupid. She said she would have Oscar call me back. For a firm that makes as much money as they do communication is not their strong suit. Do not hire them if you want any type of communication they do not call you even after court they do not truly care about those they are representing.
