Well, having left multiple messages about 8 mos ago, yet never receiving return calls back, I can obviously not speak to the qualifications, skills or expertise of their counselors; but having been a crisis counselor myself, a number of my internal red flags were set off — the first being the failure to return calls, timely or otherwise!

However, I feel more importantly was the lack|absence of essential info given to a caller in potential crisis who took the often-difficult + always-brave first step in healing|recovery — simply MAKING this vital, first connection. Hence – the risk of caller just giving up after the first try is entirely avoidable by simply indicating the steps a caller should take when reaching voicemail at such a pivotal moment as this — for ex, "if this is an emergency, please seek additional help or call 911".

After waiting two weeks for a return call (and emailing also just in case), I called Pathways, also in Essex — and the goddesses smiled down on us, as my beautiful daughter serendipitously found the perfect soul-sister–therapist for her.
