I can’t explain enough the gratitude I feel for Mark Sherman and Kathy Bella. From the moment I had that initial phone consultation with Kathy, she provided ample information, and I was hesitant at first because I figured, although this law firm seems fully capable and confident to help me, I don’t actually need a lawyer because I didn’t do anything wrong, and boy was I wrong!!!!! DCF will come in and wreck your lives and rip your kids out of your arms regardless of if you are innocent. From the moment we walked into the initial meeting with them, it was clear that no matter how much evidence we gave them of my stepdaughter’s self-harming due to her autism and being non-verbal since she was a baby, they couldn’t care less! Even had her daycare and school as well as my son’s providers, btw he is also non-verbal and autistic, on the call and vouching for my parenting, THEY DID NOT CARE!!!! My son’s father and my stepdaughter’s mother were also present for that meeting and stated they did not feel I would harm her and told DCF that again, THEY DID NOT CARE!!!! This all started because the doctors at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford after only taking pictures of my stepdaughter’s face and although she did not have any concussion or any damage internally to her ear because they found a “pea-sized” dot on her ear, they ruled it as an “inflicted” injury and not “self-inflicted.” DCF took my kids away for four months. My son, who’s also non-verbal and autistic, was not even in my care at the time of the incident. He was at his father’s home. They refused to let him see me without his father being present. My son’s father and I work completely opposite schedules and lives 1 hr away from each other, so for over a month, I could not physically lay eyes on my son, who’s also non-verbal and autistic, so it’s not like I can talk to him on the phone because they would not allow his paternal grandmother who watched my son while he is at his dad’s to watch me interact with him because she had prior DCF history, although she had all the paperwork saying she was proven innocent. On top of all that, they also had to fight a criminal piece of this investigation because DCF was pursuing the allegations. Listen, I can go on and on about how Kathy and Mark helped me, and if it were not for them, I would either be in jail or in a psych ward from all the stress this has caused. I promise you, you will not regret going with this law firm. They are worth every penny!!! The work they do goes above and beyond expectation! Thank you, Kathy and Mark as well as the rest of the team!!
